FACs
Beyond the everyday hazards of viruses and ICM, the archive is a home to a number of FACs Flatline-Autonomous-Constructs. The marketing calls them "Faces," but among hackers they are colloquially pronounced "Fakes." FACs are digital copies of human brains that were uploaded into the archive, a now illegal practice. This much has been verified.
There is disagreement however on the existence of DMONs, Disembodied Mind Over Network. It's a purely theoretical concept, a conspiracy theory, a digital cryptid. A DMON is the idea of a real person's mind that has been fully transferred into cyberspace, leaving the body behind.
ARCHIVISTS
A small band of technophiles devote most of their waking hours to the investigation of the archive. A group of less than ten who rarely share what they know with outsiders.
